Exam Format

Mathematics, Numerical Reasoning, Science Reasoning, Science Analysis & Reporting, Science Interest & Communication

Mathematics

Covers advanced algebra, functions, calculus fundamentals, trigonometry, geometry, probability, and statistics at a Year 10-11 level. Questions test deep conceptual understanding alongside procedural fluency. Multi-step problems requiring creative approaches are common.

Numerical Reasoning

Assesses the ability to work with numerical data, patterns, and quantitative relationships. Includes data interpretation from tables and graphs, number sequences, proportional reasoning, and estimation. Strong mental arithmetic skills are advantageous.

Science Reasoning

Tests scientific literacy across biology, chemistry, and physics. Students must interpret experimental data, evaluate hypotheses, identify variables, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Familiarity with the scientific method and Year 9-10 science content is expected.

Science Analysis & Reporting

A written task requiring students to analyse provided scientific data or an experimental scenario, then produce a structured report. Assessed on data interpretation, use of scientific terminology, logical reasoning, and clear written communication.

Science Interest & Communication

Evaluates genuine engagement with science through written responses. Students may discuss a scientific topic they are passionate about, a scientific issue in the news, or how science impacts society. Communication clarity and authentic interest are key.
