Mathematics
Covers algebra, linear and non-linear equations, surds, indices, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics. Difficulty ranges from Year 8 to Year 10 level. Emphasises problem-solving speed with 60 questions in 30 minutes, requiring strong foundational skills.
Numerical Reasoning
Tests data interpretation, numerical patterns, percentages, ratios, and logical deduction from quantitative information. Questions often use tables, charts, and graphs. With 50 questions in 30 minutes, efficient strategies and mental arithmetic are essential.
Science Reasoning
Assesses understanding of scientific concepts across biology, chemistry, and physics at a Year 8-9 level. Students interpret experimental setups, analyse data, and evaluate scientific claims. 30 questions in 30 minutes allows more time per question than other sections.
Science Interest & Communication
A 30-minute written task where students demonstrate their enthusiasm for science. May involve discussing a scientific discovery, explaining a concept to a general audience, or reflecting on a science-related experience. Authenticity and communication skills matter most.
Science Analysis & Reporting
Students analyse a provided data set or experimental scenario and write a structured report within 30 minutes. Assessed on ability to identify trends, draw conclusions, use scientific language, and present findings clearly and logically.
