Exam Format
Mathematics, Numerical Reasoning, Science Reasoning, Science Analysis & Reporting
Mathematics
Covers algebra, equations, geometry, trigonometry, probability, statistics, and number theory. The difficulty spans Year 8 to Year 10+ depending on entry level. Emphasis on multi-step problem solving, with questions designed to test both speed and depth of understanding.
Numerical Reasoning
Assesses the ability to interpret tables, graphs, and numerical data sets. Involves percentages, ratios, proportional reasoning, estimation, and pattern recognition. Questions are designed to test logical thinking with numbers rather than rote calculation.
Science Reasoning
Tests scientific literacy across biology, chemistry, and physics. Students interpret experiments, evaluate hypotheses, identify controlled variables, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Content aligns with Year 8-10 Victorian science curriculum.
Science Analysis & Reporting
A written component where students analyse experimental data and produce a structured scientific report. Markers look for clear identification of trends, appropriate use of scientific terminology, logical conclusions, and well-organised written communication.
